Alastair D. McBain – President & Chief Executive Officer

Mr. McBain has over 28 years’ experience in the oil industry, the first 16 of which were with Shell where he held numerous senior international positions, including assignments in Singapore, Dubai, China and Venezuela. He also worked in Shell’s natural gas business with specific responsibility for the development of liquefied natural gas projects. He joined Vitol in 1995 to head up the growth of Arawak’s portfolio of upstream assets. Mr. McBain is a graduate of Oxford University and became President and CEO of Arawak, as well as a Director, in September 2002.

Charles R.A. Carter – Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Carter is a chartered accountant having trained at Deloitte Haskins & Sells in London (now part of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP), and was appointed Chief Financial Officer of Arawak in September 2004. Prior to his appointment, Mr. Carter spent over six years at Deloitte Haskins & Sells, including 18 months on secondment to National Grid plc at the time of the company’s privatisation. He subsequently joined National Grid, spending nine years in senior international business development and finance roles, including periods of time living and working in India and Australia. His final role at National Grid was as director of Corporate Finance. Mr. Carter holds an honours degree in mathematics from Oxford University and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. Mr. Carter was appointed as a Director of Arawak in July 2008.

Shahveer P. Kapadia – Chief Operating Officer

Mr. Kapadia is a petroleum engineer with 28 years’ project management and operations experience in the international oil and gas industry. He was appointed Chief Operating Officer of Arawak in January 2005. Prior to his appointment, Mr. Kapadia held the position of Senior Vice President of Samson International Ltd. Mr. Kapadia holds both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Oklahoma and a Master of Business Administration from Oklahoma City University. Mr. Kapadia was appointed as a Director of Arawak in July 2008.

Michael D. Volcko – Vice President Business Development

Mr. Volcko is a petroleum engineer with 22 years’ petroleum industry experience. He was appointed Vice President, Business Development of Arawak in November 2005. Prior to his appointment, he was the President and founder of Altius from May 1999. Previously, Mr. Volcko worked for PanCanadian Petroleum Limited for over thirteen years, initially performing reservoir and production engineering functions for domestic Canadian operations. and subsequently performing technical evaluations for the International Division, including projects in South East Asia, Australia, North Africa, Russia, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan. Upon the company’s exit from Kazakhstan, Mr. Volcko became Project Coordinator, South America and in 1998, Manager, Engineering and Development International. Mr. Volcko holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Calgary. Mr. Volcko was appointed as a Director of Arawak in July 2008.

Gulnoza Kadirova-Chakhane – Vice President, Finance

Mrs. Kadirova-Chakhane was appointed Vice President, Finance of Arawak in September 2007. Prior to her appointment, she held the position of regional Finance Director, Kazakhstan with Celtic Resources Holding plc, at the time an AIM-listed natural resources company. Previously, she was Export Compliance Manager with UGS, a global provider of product lifecycle management software and services. Mrs. Kadirova-Chakhane is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and holds an honours degree in Accounting from Tashkent State Economic University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame, Indiana.

Peter Krapivin – Vice President, Russia

Mr. Krapivin has 31 years’ experience working in the international oil and gas industry including postings in Yemen, the Ukraine and Turkmenistan. In 1999 he was appointed Deputy General Director of PNG and in 2006 he was appointed General Director. In February 2008 Mr. Krapivin was appointed Vice President, Russia of Arawak. Prior to this, Mr. Krapivin held the position of Technical Director of Samson Oil & Gas Development Limited in Russia from 1992. Mr. Krapivin graduated from Grozny Oil Institute in 1977 as a logging engineer.

Bakhtiyar Berlibayev – Vice President, Kazakhstan Administration

Mr. Berlibayev joined Altius Petroleum in 2006 as Astana representative responsible for government relations and in December 2007 he was appointed Vice President, Kazakhstan Administration of Arawak. Prior to his appointment, from 1995 to 2005, Mr. Berlibayev held various positions within several ministries of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan. These positions include Director General of the state enterprise “Reserve” of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Deputy Chairman of the Committee of Automobile Roads and Construction of Infrastructure of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications and Chairman of the administration of CJS “Centre of Financial Liabilities Operations” of the Ministry of Finance. Mr. Berlibayev graduated from Karagandinsky Polytechnic in 1992 as a mining engineer and in 1997 from the State Management Academy in Almaty.

Magdalena Bujnowska – Company Secretary

Ms. Bujnowska has over 13 years’ experience in the international oil and gas industry and was appointed Corporate Secretary of the group in November 2003. Prior to her appointment, Ms. Bujnowska held the position of Company Secretary of Lukoil Overseas UK Limited and she previously spent 9 years working for Bitech Petroleum Corporation. Ms. Bujnowska holds a Master of Business Administration from Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh.
